An efficient combustion process is not just about generating the right amount of heat. By measuring and analyzing flue gases, you can gain better control over combustion, identify deviations, and create the conditions for a more efficient process.

During combustion, a fuel reacts with oxygen to produce, among other things, heat, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. The efficiency of the process depends, among other factors, on how much oxygen is supplied and how well the fuel is burned.
By analyzing the flue gases, you can gain insight into what is happening in the combustion process. Measurements of, for example, oxygen (O₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and carbon monoxide (CO) can provide valuable indications of how the process is functioning.
Too much air can result in energy being lost along with the flue gases, while too little oxygen can lead to incomplete combustion and elevated levels of carbon monoxide. By monitoring the measurement values, it is therefore possible to adjust the process and achieve a better balance.
In complete combustion, the fuel is primarily converted into carbon dioxide and water. If there is not enough oxygen, or if the fuel-to-air ratio is not optimal, combustion can be incomplete.
This can result in the formation of carbon monoxide (CO) and other combustion byproducts.
This is one of the reasons why flue gas analysis is an important tool for monitoring and optimizing combustion systems. By measuring what is actually present in the flue gas, you gain the information needed to understand and adjust the process.
Flue gas analysis can be used in a variety of contexts—from monitoring and calibration to troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of combustion processes.
